Ha! I have to agree. Swedes are often lagom, to a weird nationalist extent. For instance, Swedes laugh at Chinese audiences for being calm in the extreme, without realising they're just like that, themselves.

Älska on! Stockholm and Sweden needs it.

My initial though is that New York (and a handful of other supermetros) is the environmental manifestation of AD(H)D. You want to keep an ADD patient sated? Drop 'em in NYC, there's something new to fixate on with every breath.

Hahaha.

Why are we New Yorker's so easily amused? I mean, I get excited about every new website or technology and everyone else is like "uhh...it's just a website" and i'm like "NO! IT'S THE BEST THING EVER!"

There are definitely some things worth getting excited about. (sex in the morning is right up there). But as a NYer, I will never give up my flare for the wildly overdramatic. :)

It's funny, I've noticed this addiction to the superlative, too. Although, I'd say it's probably pretty American, in general, though it's likely even more dramatic in New Yorkers. About a year ago, a high school friend of mine (and yours), in a discussion about fantasy football, got quite excited, and one might say, teetered on pseudo-orgasm while talking about how "there is nothing better than Live Scoring on Sundays". For the uninformed, Live Scoring amounts to a webpage that updates by the minute, your points scored that week as based on the most up-to-date stats available (which often only lag from true real-time by a few minutes).

I was impressed by his near lust for Live Scoring, but decided it a major hyperbole. I chimed in and pointed out I could think of a few things that are better than Live Scoring, to provide him a bit of perspective... like say, sex in the morning. Naturally, born and raised a New Yorker, my words were a bit more graphic, nonetheless, the point was made.

To lagom! At least in our choice of words... I'm not giving up on indulgence completely.
